Windscreen man Steve so close to title

A DISS windscreen technician has narrowly missed out on a place in an international competition to find the world's best vehicle windscreen fitter.
Steve Allen took part in the regional finals of the Best of Belron 2008 held at the Autoglass National Skills centre in Birmingham.
He was selected for the competition after being named regional finalist when he impressed judges with his technical and customer service skills.
Steve, an expert technician, has worked with Autoglass for over 20 years and is based at the company's fitting centre in, Victoria Road, Diss. Belron is the parent company of Autoglass in the UK.
The competition not only tests the technicians' technical ability but also their customer service skills.
Justin Bazalgette, Belron Technical Centre manager, said: "Best of Belron is a unique opportunity for our technicians to demonstrate their skills and expertise in front of key industry representatives.
"Belron has over 1,600 service centres and 7,100 mobile vehicles serving over eight million motorists worldwide. Every four seconds one of our technicians repairs or replaces a piece of glass. It is important that our technicians are fully trained to provide the best service to our customers everytime."
