Hempnall Youth Football Club held their Fun Day at Talbot Park, with presentation of trophies too. The event was well attended and people enjoyed the bouncy castle, coconut stall, live entertainment, tombola and a cake stall.
During the afternoon teams played out a friendly seven-a-side tournament and the spectators were entertained by a dancing troop from The Arts.
Visitors were invited to bid against each of the football managers to see who would have the distinction of being placed in the stocks so that eager club members could throw wet sponges at them.
Due to popular demand Scott Garrod was the lucky recipient but, not to be forgotten, Wayne Maloney the U12 manager was “persuaded” to have his turn. Obviously the anticipation was too much for his team as they dispensed with the sponges and lifted the large plastic bin full of water over his head instead.
Former Norwich City footballer Neil Adams kindly presented a trophy to all the players of the five teams.
A club spokesperson said: “A very memorable and enjoyable afternoon was concluded with the parents v lads football match.
“The parents losing a close game 5-0 due mainly to the heat, some dodgy refereeing decisions, the fact that they were all wearing dresses and perhaps a little down to advancing years.”
If anyone would like to play for Hempnall Youth this season they have excellent changing rooms and playing facilities. Please contact either Mark on 01508 498242 or Wayne on 07786 368409.
