One of the smallest but highest achieving schools in the country, Stradbroke High School has had some of the best GCSE results for two years in a row and is one of the top performing schools in Suffolk.

This academic excellence has recently been recognised by Ofsted, which said in its report from an inspection in November 2023 that the schools’ academic achievements are “substantial” and that “the quality of education enables pupils to achieve the very highest academic standards…. there is an exceptional level of ambition".

Headteacher Karen Millar said: "I am immensely proud of the staff and students. To have the journey the school has been on recognised and for the inspection team to note our 'exceptional level of ambition' is testament to the commitment and skill of our highly trained staff.

"As a small school we have never allowed our size to limit the range of opportunities and quality of education we provide. The way the students conducted themselves and the pride they showed in the school were evident to the inspectors."

Stradbroke is about so much more than just academic standards; it is about having a child-centred approach to their wider personal development.

There is a range of enrichment opportunities for the students to get involved with, including clubs, activities and trips. The First World War battlefields trip, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, numerous sports and music clubs are all popular, and students are excited about these extracurricular options.

The school council, Voice of Stradbroke High (VOSH, plays a key role in the school. Student members are passionate about their role and are keen to engage with charity events and fundraising.

The students also value the leadership opportunities such as sports captains and form captains, all of which contribute to helping develop students into well-rounded individuals.

Ofsted also recognised the students’ conduct, stating “behaviour is a credit to the school’s high expectations”, and that the “very orderly environment is reflected in low levels of unacceptable behaviour”.

In lessons, students are enthusiastic, kind and friendly and this is mirrored across the whole school.

Stradbroke prides itself on allowing its students to be nurtured both academically and pastorally. The school gives all its students the best life chances.
