Hundreds of people took the opportunity to step back in time to 15th-century Norfolk at a weekend event

Over Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6 almost 400 people had a taste of what life in medieval England was like courtesy of the Demowbrays Retinue historical reenactment group.

Throughout the weekend held at Bressingham Church, west of Diss, 17 historical interpreters recreated a Duchess visiting her retainer.

Visitors were given the opportunity to see what life was like at the very top and bottom of medieval society - by watching events at the high table of the Duchess or taking part in a medieval court hearing, where the suspect found guilty of selling underweight bread was punished with time spent in the stocks.

Bressingham church’s £250,000 Heritage Lottery Fund building repairs project is due to be completed in December.
