Charity ball raises more than £7,000 for region’s charities
A swimming school’s black tie charity ball has raised more than £7,000 for charity.
The Water Lilies Swiming School’ event and fundraising activities have raised £7,850 for Nelson’s Journey, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each) and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Teresa Griffin set up the swimming school 10 years ago. She said: “We received such an incredible amount of support and generosity from local businesses and individuals as well as from our fantastic community of families and friends at the swimming school. It has been heartwarming, and lots of fun too.”
The school, based in Scole, hopes to raise a further £150 to make a total £8,000.
There was an auction, heads and tails game and a raffle with more than 3,000 ticket sold.
The school is continuing its charity work raising money for BBC Children in Need with children swimming in their pyjamas all week.
