Road to be closed for £6,000 drainage works

A village road is to be closed so £6,000 work to replace a drainage pipe can be carried out to prevent future flooding.

Norfolk County Council’s (NCC) highways team said the road closure “has been deemed the safest and quickest way to complete these works”, because the pipe crosses Norwich Road in Dickleburgh, near Diss.

The works, which are due to last one week, are set to start on or shortly after Monday, February 26 - although the council has warned the start date may change due to “unforeseen delays” with other work byy contractors elsewhere, as well as “hold-ups due to poor weather”.

A NCC spokesman said: “These works are required to prevent the back flowing of water onto the land to the east of Norwich Road between Moorland and Moor Cottage.”

School buses will be allowed through the closure to reduce disruption but vehicle access may be restricted during working hours.

Pedestrian access to houses will be maintained.

Diversion routes along Norwich Road, the A140 Dickleburgh bypass, Ipswich Road and The Street will be signposted.
