A south Norfolk airfield will host its first ever charity air festival this summer.

The Norfolk Gliding Club at Tibenham, near Diss, will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first 8th Air Force missions flown from the UK during the second world war with a big event on Sunday, July 8

The Tibenham Heritage Air Festival will feature displays from several aircraft, including the B-17 Flying Fortress ‘Sally B’, P-51 Mustangs, Spitfire, Douglas DC3, Aero Stars Yak Display Team, Harvard, Glider and Tug, and Pitts Special.

The airfield was a Liberator base and the WWII home of Hollywood legend Jimmy Stewart.

The event will also include Lotus historic F1 racing cars, military vehicles, police dog handling, vintage and classic cars, aviation artefacts, trade stands, food and refreshments.

The festival will run from 10.30am to 7pm on July 8 and tickets cost £12 for adults and £6 for children. Twenty percent of the profits will go to local charity Care for Life at Home.
