Shannon Ann Gittings, 17, died last Wednesday (October 3) after her car had crashed into a tree.

Assistant coroner for Norfolk Johanna Thompson said on Monday (October 8) it appeared that Ms Gittings had “sadly died of being involved in a road traffic collision” on the A140 junction with Quaker Lane in Long Stratton.

In a statement read to the court, Shannon’s father confirmed she was born on June 29, 2001 in Clacton in Essex.

The inquest heard that she lived at Shelfanger Road, Diss, and worked as an assistant administrator.

Medical reports and witness statements are being obtained, Ms Thompson said.

Tributes to the teenager, who worked at the Saracens Pub Hotel, poured in last week on social media. Friends described her as a “stunning”, “fun” and “gorgeous” girl who “brought great moments and happiness”.

The full inquest will be held on March 6 next year at Norwich Coroner’s Court.
