Inquest opens into East Harling murder victim Peter Wrighton

The inquest into the death of a man murdered in East Harling opened in Norwich this morning.

Peter Gerald Wrighton, 83, was found dead in woodland near East Harling on August 5.

Senior coroner Jacqueline Lake told the court that Mr Wrighton had left his home, in The Moor, Banham in the morning to walk his dogs.

But a member of the public found the retired BT engineer unresponsive in the woods.

Paramedics were called, but Mr Wrighton - who was born in Tottenham - was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital three days later, by his wife Ann.

The medical cause of death was given as incised wounds to the neck, following a post-mortem examination by Dr Ginni Fitzpatrick-Swallow.

A review into the inquest will be held on December 14 at Norfolk Coroners Court.
