Hundreds of motorcyclists will be raising funds on a charity ride in memory of a Burston man who died after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

Andy Downes, also from Burston, has organised the ride from Diss to Old Buckenham on July 22 in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity after the death of his friend Ted Churchard, who he met through their mutual love of motorcycles.

A similar event last summer raised more than £2,000 for the charity.

Mr Downes said: “Ted was hoping to attend the last event but he was too ill and sadly he passed away in September. The Brain Tumour Charity is one of the less well known charities but we hope to raise more money in memory of Ted.”

The charity ride, which will involve motorcycles, trikes, quad bikes, sidecars and scooters, will leave Morrisons in Diss at 11am travelling 40 miles to finish at The Ox and Plough in Old Buckenham. Donations of £5 per bike.
