The club, which is run by volunteers, has two fully qualified UK athletics coaches, has unanimous support from Attleborough Town Council and has already attracted 50 young members.

Members meet twice a week at Gaymers Meadow or Attleborough Academy Sports Hall. The sessions take place between 9am and 10.30am on Saturdays and 7pm to 8pm on Mondays, at a cost of £2 a session.

Adults are also being encouraged to join , with the club launching a senior section on Saturday mornings alongside junior training.

“It can be a family occasion,” said club chairman Ron Marsh.

“The adults can run while the children exercise too.

“We can’t thank our supporters enough for getting this already flourishing club off the ground.”

Sessions are designed to incorporate the fundamental elements involved in running, jumping and throwing for both track and field events.

Club officials have already received some investment from local businesses and are seeking extra help in a bid to improve facilities at Gaymers Meadow.
