Police pull over a van held together by tape

PUBLISHED: 15:23 11 January 2018 | UPDATED: 19:08 11 January 2018

A van with its front bumper held together by tape was deemed unfit to be on the road when pulled over by police.

Norfolk and Suffolk’s road casualty reduction team patrolling roads in Diss on Wednesday, January 10 stopped not one but two vehicles which were unfit to be on the road.

The first, a white tipper van, was pulled over by officers at 11am. The van had two flat tyres, one of which was below the legal tread limit and a front bumper held together with tape.

The driver, a man in his early 50s, was reported and issued with a road worthiness prohibition notice.

The second vehicle, a 3.5tonne white tipper truck, was stopped at 2pm for being overloaded by half a tonne and for incorrectly towing a trailer.

PC Mark Carter said: “Make sure you are safe and ensure the safety of others on the road. If you have any doubts about your vehicle contact the relevant police officer.

“We would rather people sought advice before putting others and themselves at risk.”
