Rugby: Diss face tough local challenge

PUBLISHED: 13:56 13 April 2012

With two league games left in the season, this weekend’s derby match between Diss and Bury St Edmunds will be more than a battle of honour.

With third place in London One North decided for Diss, Bury will be fighting for points to stay fourth and ahead of fifth-placed Eton Manor with whom they are currently tied on 62 points.

Bury, though, have a huge points advantage over the London rivals.

This fixture at the Haberden in December saw a 25-25 draw after a hard fought, passionate game, which is likely to be repeated.

One of the Diss strengths on that day was fielding a large contingent of supporters, as they have enjoyed all season. Phil Sharpe, coaches and all those involved with this successful season, especially the players, appreciate the support they have enjoyed. Diss are offering a Mackenders welcome to Bury and their followers and hope for a good afternoon, on and off the pitch.
