17:45 09 May 2012

Diss Otters put on another terrific display in the second UEA mini meet of the year.

With 16 Otters aged 12 and under the team competed in a total of 61 races, producing 53 personal best times and picking up 44 top-six finishes and 23 bronze, silver and gold medal winning performances.

Credit must go to the following swimmers who achieved personal bests in every race they swam at this mini meet: Anna Brinkley, Bria Clarke, Isobel Collins, Madison Dewsbury, Briony Greathead, Megan Greenacre, Fifi Martindale, Llilias Parsons, Bobby Greathead, and Henry Hindle.

All swimmers on the Diss team achieved at least two personal bests on the night so congratulations also to Lauren Armour, Rebecca Hindle, Rowan Whittington, Joel Clarke, Leon Kershaw and Jack Seaman.

Inevitably with all of these quick times, medals were won left, right and centre with bronze for Anna (25m frontcrawl, 25m breaststroke), Bria (50m breaststroke), Isobel (25m butterfly, 100m individual medley), Briony (50m butterfly), Megan (50m frontcrawl, 100m individual medley, 50breaststroke), Fifi (25m backstroke) and Rowan (50m backstroke).

Silver medals were achieved by Madison (25m backstroke), Briony (50m breaststroke), Megan (25m butterfly), Lilias (50m butterfly),Henry (50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke) and Leon (25m butterfly).

Gold medal success stories on the night were written by the following Otters – Rebecca Hindle with a terrific sprint to gold in the 25m butterfly, Fifi Martindale who beat off eight rivals to win the 50m breaststroke and Joel Clarke who won three golds from three races in his first competition for the club. Well done all.
