Motorists will be forced to drive more than 50 miles around numerous villages to avoid roadworks next week.
The A140 in Long Stratton is being repaired in four phases by council highways teams from March 25 to March 29 which will see The Street out of action from 8.15pm to 6am each night.
While these works are under way, affecting just over half a mile of road, drivers will be forced to use a 52.2-mile diversion around Harleston, Bungay, Loddon, Norwich and Newton Flotman.

From Scole heading north, the official diversion route will follow the A143 to Stockton where it will join the A146 to Norwich.
From there, it will head west until it reaches the A140 before heading south back to Long Stratton.
Beginning today, drivers will have to use a nearly 12-mile-long diversion around the A47 between Acle roundabout to the Vauxhall roundabout in Great Yarmouth every night for 10 days.
The diversion will branch north from either roundabout and follow the Caister bypass and the A1064 for a total of 11.5 miles.
