Villagers who secured funds totalling £50,000 for new play park equipment celebrated its installation at their local playground at the weekend.
The grand opening was part of the Palgrave Family Fun Day held at Palgrave Playing Field and Community Centre on Sunday, July 2 afternoon.
It was a chance for children to enjoy the new equipment and for fundraisers to celebrate the completion of phase one of the playground project.
The make-over and refurbishment of the area has already been attracting children, friends and families.
They have been visiting to play, relax and socialise and enjoy the open space in the village.
'We have just been over at the playground for the last hour, the kids loved it. We are so impressed with the new equipment,' said mum Carrie Wells, whose children Tori, aged seven, and Clayton, aged eight, tried out the new equipment for the first time.
New equipment includes The Tower Combination, with multiple entry and exit points with different challenges, and an inclined wall with climbing rope and slide.
Also installed as part of the project is a Platform House for smaller children with a wide slide, climbing net and wooden playhouse and platform to explore.
The Play in Palgrave Team has also installed sitting benches, picnic benches and a Pixie seat all made from recycled materials.
Other attractions at the family fun day were the bouncy castle, a vintage tractor and a fire engine and birds of prey, as well as face painting.
There were also children's races, a tug of war and a lot of fete-style games, all with prizes, as well as the Mini King of the Cup football tournament.
And nobody went hungry or thirsty with Martin's BBQ, the PDCC bar and home-made cream teas and ice creams available.
The Play in Palgrave Team is working hard now to raise funds for the next phase.
This will include a zip wire, mini carousel, new gated entrance and a pathway and also refurbishments to the see-saw, ball wall.
The team is aiming to raise £20,000 and has secured a good proportion of this already.
