Ninety years of the Royal British Legion will be commemorated by a south Norfolk village which will host a packed weekend of anniversary celebrations.
From June 10 to 12, Dickleburgh, near Diss, will putting on a range of events including dances and a parade.
The fun kicks-off on June 10 with bingo played in the village centre from 7.30pm. Then on June 11, from 10am to 4pm, the town will be a hive of activity with events such as themed flower displays in the church, games, stalls, refreshments, music and dancing.
The party will continue at the village centre from 7pm with a 1940s themed war dance. Dancers are asked to arrive in civilian or allied uniforms from the period to re-create the wartime spirit. Music will be provided by Timescape and a hot supper will also be served. Tickets cost �9.50 and must be booked in advance by calling 01379 741535 or emailing mharrowven@btinternet.com
On June 12, visitors can enjoy a parade starting from the village centre at 10.45am, involving Dickleburgh Royal British Legion, 1st Dickleburgh Sea Scouts, Dickleburgh and Rushall Parish Council and other village organisations. A service will follow at All Saints Church at 11am.
Then from midday to 4pm, a more events take place including a classic car, tractor and military vehicle display at Townlands Meadow, a barbecue hosted by the 1st Dickleburgh Sea Scouts and a presentation on the history of Dickleburgh Royal British Legion by the Village Society in the Reading Rooms.
