The best of the region's unsung heroes have been recognised at a feel-good ceremony.

It's the 11th year the Stars of Norfolk and Waveney Awards have taken place.

And the annual event continues to shine a light on those in our community who have shown selfless acts of kindness, bravery or heroism.

Organised by this newspaper, the awards are an opportunity to thank the groups, organisations, and individuals who have gone the extra mile across 12 different categories.

The Overall Star award, which is decided by the judges, went to Steven Russell, who has worked for the Norfolk County Council for more than 30 years, ensuring equal opportunities for disabled people and those with learning difficulties.

EDP editor Richard Porritt said: "I'm proud we've been able to put on another memorable Stars of Norfolk and Waveney Awards.

“Every year, the awards acknowledge the amazing deeds being carried out in the area.

"They also give us the opportunity to give our winners and finalists the recognition they deserve.

"Thank you to everyone who has helped to put this year's event on - including all of our sponsors - and the in-house team who worked so hard on the event."

Held at the Assembly House in Norwich, the awards presentation took place on Thursday, November 30.

All the winners received tickets from Norwich Theatre to this year’s pantomime, Sleeping Beauty.
