Two-year contract awarded to Norfolk Screen for more films

Production company Norfolk Screen has been awarded a two-year contract by the Norfolk County Council Film Office to better promote the county for film crews.

The pilot project will see Norfolk capitalise on the growth of the UK film industry which grew to £6.27 billion in 2022, the highest ever reported.

Council bosses said large-scale productions generate huge business for surrounding areas -  from cafés and taxi companies to accommodation firms and shops.

The trial film office will seek to support a "dynamic and growing screen sector" within Norfolk and serve as a "front door" for enquiries about locations.

Claire Chapman, the managing director at Norfolk Screen said: "We are delighted to partner with the council and the local authorities in working together to ensure that productions think first about Norfolk when it comes to filming in the UK.

"The more productions we can support locally and from outside the region, the more we can help boost the local economy and create new jobs."

Councillor Fabian Eagle, cabinet member for economic development said: "Numerous production companies have already featured our beautiful county in their drama and documentary footage over the years.

"If we can maximise our stunning natural resources with a county-wide film office we can boost the economic benefit for many local businesses and for the tourism trade overall."
