A man from Ipswich has been ordered by magistrates to pay out more than £400 in fines and costs after he was caught not wearing a seatbelt in a car.
Bacu Sandu, of Bramford Road in the Suffolk town, appeared before Willesden Magistrates' Court in north-west London in January.
The 31-year-old was charged with riding in a rear passenger seat in a motor vehicle on a road and failing to wear a seatbelt.
According to a court listing, the incident happened in High Road Goodmayes, in Redbridge in London, on the morning of July 3 last year.
The vehicle in question was a Volkswagen Passat.
The case was heard by magistrates through the single justice procedure, which deals with more minor summary offences that do not go before a crown court.
Sandu was told to pay a fine of £220.
He was also instructed to pay a victim surchage of £88, as well as costs of £100.
This means the total he was told to pay out for the offence was £408.
A collection order was made for the sums.
