A summer charity ball has raised £3,000 for the Diss Friends of Chernobyl's Children. Held at the town's Park Hotel, it was attended by 120 guests and included a charity auction featuring a signed Norwich City football shirt donated by Bryan Gunn and an Ipswich Town signed football top that sparked rivalry between fans.

Held at the town's Park Hotel, it was attended by 120 guests and included a charity auction featuring a signed Norwich City football shirt donated by Bryan Gunn and an Ipswich Town signed football top that sparked rivalry between fans.
Sponsored by Norwich-based Insight Financial Associates, the event provided financial support to fly youngsters from Mogilev city, near Chernobyl, to Norfolk for a one- month holiday annually over a five year period. This allows radiation contamination present in the crop-growing soil to leave their bodies, thus increasing their life expectancy by up to 10 years.
Jason Howard, managing director of Insight, said: “The Diss Friends of Chernobyl's Children work tirelessly year on year to improve and extend the lives of 15 children that have been impacted by the Chernobyl disaster. Insight are delighted to support this fantastic cause and have pledged their ongoing support.”
The company has also pledged to offer the charity 25pc of any remuneration it receives through complimentary advice consultations referred by the Diss friends group which was founded in 2000.
