A140 set to re-open after bomb disposal unit visit

The bomb disposal unit have confirmed that an object found in a field near the A140 this afternoon was not historic munitions as previously suspected after a suspected historic munition was found.

The road was closed for a time between Yaxley and Brome as a precaution after a device was found in a field nearby.

Motorists were diverted through Eye while the road was closed.

Suffolk police tweeted that he bomb disposal unit had been called to dispose of the device but that it was later deemed not to be ordinance.
