Two south Norfolk women are calling for fellow sight-loss patients to come forward to help form a new support group in the Diss area.
Carolyn Barclay, of Roydon, and Janette Williams, of Bressingham, have been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration, which will result in the gradual loss of their central vision.
The two patients want to provide more support to people who have the condition by setting up a group in the Diss area.
Around 500,000 people in the UK - the majority over 55 years - are affected by the degenerative disease and there is no cure.
People with MD rarely go totally blind, but even those with relatively mild disease will not be able to drive and will have difficulty reading, recognising faces and watching television.
The nearest support groups are currently in Norwich, Bury St Edmunds, and Woodbridge.
