A celebrity couple will be performing the ribbon cutting duties this weekend for the official opening of a new village centre.

Look East weathergirl Julie Reinger visited the derelict former Pennoyer's School at Pulham St Mary four years ago when it was featured on the BBC's Restoration Village television show.

The pregnant presenter will revisit the building on Sunday with husband Chris Goreham, BBC Radio Norfolk breakfast DJ and Norwich City commentator, who will open it as the Pennoyer Centre.

The open day, which will take place between 11am and 5pm, comes exactly four years after a Restoration Roadshow when villagers were seeking votes to turn the 15th century guild chapel and Victorian school extension into a modern village centre.

The village, near Harleston, did not win the television competition, but the former school will reopen to the public as a transformed community, heritage, and business centre on Sunday.

The 1.6m project follows five years of hard work by villagers, which received more than 900,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Sheila King, chairman of the Pennoyer Centre, said: 'When the restoration project started back in 2005, we knew we had a lot of hard work ahead of us and sometimes wondered if we would ever get there so it is extremely exciting to be throwing the doors open to the public and I hope that the community will be delighted with what they see.'
