A lorry had to be rescued on December 3 after it sank into a pavement by the Fish and Chip Burger Shop in Victoria Road.

The pavement was later cordoned off as Anglia Water carried out repairs.

A spokesman for Anglia Water has said that the main sewer which runs along the road had collapsed and the weight of the lorry on the pavement had caused the top surface to give way.

The spokesman added: 'We are repairing the road and making it safe and plan to start work on improving the sewer, with minimum disruption, within the next few weeks or early next year.'
