MORE than 1,360 was raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care, thanks to the generosity of shoppers in Harleston - and a giant daffodil walking up and down the high street.

The 1,364 figure was achieved during a street collection, organised by John and Rosetta Ellis, of Pulham St Mary, last Friday and Saturday (February 27 and 28) and beats last year's figure of about 980.

Mrs Ellis, who got involved in fundraising for Marie Curie after her cousin died from prostate cancer a few years ago, said: 'I just want to say thank you to the people in Harleston who have supported us and given their money so generously, and to the collectors, who were a great team.'

More volunteers are needed to help raise money for Marie Curie. If you would like to help, call Mr and Mrs Ellis on 01379 676549.
