The team behind a town carnival that sees thousands line the streets have revealed a pun-laden space theme for next year's event.

They may be 19 years late for a 2001 Space Odyssey, but the Diss Town Carnival and Fun Day's theme for 2020 is "Space Inva'Diss" with the event taking place on Sunday, June 14.

Application forms for those wanting to take part in the parade or have a stall at the Funday will be available from mid-November from the Diss Carnival Facebook page or from the Diss Town Council offices on Market Hill.

A Diss Carnival Committee spokesman said: "We want to see aliens and space travellers taking over the town, so think Star Trek and Star Wars, rockets and robots, planets and astronauts and lots of Extra Terrestrials!"

The pun-laden theme follows the success of the 2019 Pre-Diss-Toric carnival that attracted plenty of dinosaur and cavemen outfits and floats, and the 2018 theme of Water Wonderland, in honour of Diss Mere, that included mermaids, pirates and gigantic ducks.
