DISS will hold its first Beer Festival later this month at the old grain trading centre of the listed Corn Hall building.

A wide range of ales from various local and national breweries will be on tap, live bands will play and a locally-sourced hog roast will also be served from 6pm each day.

The festival takes place from Friday, October 30 to Saturday, October 31 and will be open both days from midday to 10pm.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Diss Corn Hall Trust, a charity set up to save and refurbish the Corn Hall.

On January 1 management of the listed venue will be handed over from the town council to the Diss Corn Hall Trust.

The trust is planning a £2 million refurbishment of the building into a new centre for the arts, and this event is the first the group has organised.

Earlier this year a £70,000 grant for the trust was secured from South Norfolk Council, but there is still a huge shortfall in funding.
