The results of a £150,000 makeover will be unveiled on Monday when Diss Leisure Centre opens its doors to the public.

The centre – owned by South Norfolk Council – has undergone a five-week renovation and will offer modern facilities and state-of-the-art fitness equipment.

From next week, members will be able to enjoy a new reception area complete with a Costa Coffee bar, brand new changing and shower facilities and an upgraded gym with new equipment.

Customers will also benefit from swipe card access and be able book and pay for classes and activities online through the council's website.

Rob Adams, general manager, said: 'We would like to say a big thank you to all our customers who have been so patient during the closure. We hope they will be as delighted as we are with the results and we look forward to welcoming them soon.'

John Fuller, council leader said: 'The improvements to our leisure centres are an investment in a healthier future for the region for years to come.

'We are providing the quality of private gyms at council prices.'

The renovations at Diss mark the beginning of a £4m million programme of improvements to all three of the council's leisure centres.

Wymondham will be the next centre to undergo work – with a major renovation programme costing over £3m starting on May 25. The council is providing alternative fitness venues for its members so that they can continue to keep fit and healthy while the centre closes.
