Diss Scouts were given the honour of officially launching a rebranded supermarket in the town.
Following a week long closure, the former Somerfield store in Mere Street was reopened as a Co-operative on Thursday.
The £350,000 transformation, which included a name and layout change, followed The Co-operative Group’s £1.56b acquisition of the Somerfield supermarket chain last year and secures the 49 jobs at the Diss store.
Youngsters from the 1st and 2nd Diss Scouts were invited to perform the opening and were presented with a donation of £200 by store manager Jason Staples to mark the occasion.
He said: “As The Co-operative is very much a community retailer it is appropriate that a local group is involved in our special event. We are delighted the children played a central role in the relaunch of our store.”
