Mouths will be watering in Diss next month when a two-day festival celebrating the best in locally produced food and crafts takes place.

Taste of Diss 2010, which will run over the weekend of June 12 and 13, aims to promote sustainable living by showcasing what local businesses have to offer.

The town's Corn Hall will play host to a range of activities on the first day, including a food and craft fair, a special supper and music performances.

Between midday and 5pm, about 20 exhibitors will pack the hall selling food and offering samples including handmade chocolates, pickles, chutneys and wines.

Artwork and crafts will also be on display, alongside card making demonstrations and cookery classes for children and talks on subjects such as allotments and beekeeping. The fair is free to enter.

Then between 5.30pm and 7pm, people are invited to a light supper followed by discussions and a debate about sustainable living. Tickets for the supper cost 5 and are available from the Corn Hall box office.

Following between 8pm and 11pm will be musical performances featuring acoustic band Them Harvey Boys with supporting act Cakes and Ale. Tickets cost 6 which can also be bought from the box office or on the door.

The festival then finishes the next day with a family picnic on Fair Green, between midday and 4pm, where there will be children's entertainment and food and drink on offer. All are welcome to grab a picnic rug and join in for free.

The weekend is being supported by Diss Business Forum, Slow Food Waveney Valley, Diss Community Partnership, Diss Town Council and Cittaslow, with the picnic being held in association with the Fair Green Neighbourhood Association and The Cock Inn.
