Adult staff are desperately needed to help the Diss squadron Air Training Corps develop the next generation.

The group is urging people with a sense of adventure and a few hours to spare to challenge themselves, and get in touch.

Commanding officer, Flt Lt Andy Pursehouse, 35, said: "Adult staff have a crucial role within our organisation, as without them the ATC could not offer the vast range of activities it does.

"As well as helping cadets realise their potential, staff can also gain valuable academic qualifications and leadership skills which are highly valued by employers.

"I've been with the ATC since I was a teenager, and I can't keep away!"

Cadets and staff get involved in a range of activities such as flying and Gliding, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and seven major sports.

The squadron's newest recruit, pilot officer Emma Dixon, said: "Air cadets are given the chance by volunteers to learn to fly, lead expeditions, become target shooting marksman, learn about aviation and aerospace and participate in many team sports.

"We provide young people with the opportunities for an enviable social life with many new friends.

"There are so many opportunities for adults with the air cadets.

"To see the look of achievement on a young cadet's face gives you a wonderful sense of pride."
