Two councils have met to discuss a public block in a south Norfolk town, the future of which has long been a point of contention for people in the town.
On Tuesday, June 5, members of Diss Town Council met with representatives of South Norfolk Council for an operational meeting to discuss the future of the Mere's Mouth toilet block.
Earlier in the year Diss Town Council voted to not accept responsibility for the building from its current owners, SNC and instead allow it to be demolished, after the building was revealed to be structurally unsound.
The decision was met with opposition from people in the town, who raised concerns about the distance to the remaining public toilets in town from the central shopping area and launched a petition to save the building.
A spokesperson for SNC said the meeting was being held to discuss business matters such as the handover of the building lease and dates.
