A village music festival in Suffolk has attracted two of Europe's leading tribute acts to play on the main stage in honour of a soldier who died in Afghanistan in 2010.

Stradisphere music festival in Stradbroke, near Eye, is being held in honour of Private James Grigg of the Royal Anglian Regiment, who was raised in Stradbroke and was a school friend of one of the organisers, Jo Bamber.

Another of the organisers also served in the forces during the Bosnia and Kosovo conflicts.

The festival will host more than 20 acts over Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, with local acts from East Anglia including Eva Black, Little Red Kings and Hemmingway.

The event also has some of the best headlining tribute acts in Europe, including The Fillers, a Killers tribute band and QII, the 'ultimate Queen show'.

The festival has also become an official fundraiser for Help for Heroes.

Mrs Bamber said: 'Losing James was hard for not only the people who knew him but for the entire village.

'My husband Brett and I decided to use our skills in music and events to build a festival in his memory.

'We are now in our second year and hoping to build on the fantastic success of last year's event which saw more than 700 people attend.'

As well as a range of musical talent, there will also be food and trade stalls available along with rides and inflatables for all ages.

Designed for all genres and for all generations, Stradisphere hopes to build on its already good reputation with the festival circuit for its quality of music and professional look.

Mrs Bamber said: 'The feedback we have been getting has been very positive. James' family are behind us too.

'We have named our main stage after our soldier.

'It is also a great platform for local bands to get heard and noticed. The festival has a great community spirit and it is all for a good cause close to our hearts.'

All profits from ticket sales and stalls and all proceeds from collections will go to Help for Heroes.

The Help for Heroes charity provides practical and direct support to wounded, injured and sick service men and women.

Stradisphere tickets prices are Friday night £8, Saturday all day £18 and after 7pm £8, weekend tickets are £25. All in advance.

Tickets are available online at www.stradisphere.co.uk or in Stradbroke at the Spar shop or library

There is also camping nearby, which can be booked via the Stradisphere website.
