An appeal to treat more cancer patients at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has been boosted with a cheque from a local firm.

Durrants raised £5,000 for the hospital's Targeted Radiotherapy Appeal through a charity valuation day and online auction.

Rebecca Mayhew, auction house manager, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and Nick Durrant, Durrants director, presented the cheque to hospital chairman John Fry.

The NHS trust has passed the halfway mark of its £600,000 appeal to provide more brachytherapy treatments for cancer patients.

Mr Fry said: 'It is wonderful that local businesses support the appeal. Money raised is spent locally and will benefit the local population and we are very grateful to Durrants for getting behind our appeal and helping to raise its profile.'
