A young health worker from Norfolk has pledged to raise funds for young orphans in Kenya following her experiences volunteering in the African country.
Amy Sherwood, a former health care assistant from Hempnall, near Norwich, spent eight weeks volunteering at the Sons of Abraham Orphanage in Mombassa last year.
The 21-year-old, who currently works as an auxiliary nurse at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, is now hoping to raise 500 to sponsor a child's education before she returns to the Kenyan orphanage with a friend in June.
Miss Sherwood, who went to Mombassa with Norwich-based Original Volunteers, said she had an 'amazing time' after spending the eight weeks teaching and playing with the children.
She hopes to organise a series of fundraising events, including a talent contest.
