Pupils, parents and staff of Hartismere School in Eye marked the occasion with an official unveiling.

The project was funded by the arts charity Diss Decorative & Fine Arts Society and members from that national arm of the organisation joined the celebration.

The school was invited to undertake a community project by the charity which involved a number of students and created a legacy art work.

The school chose to produce a mosaic stained glass window which has now been installed at Hartismere.

More than 100 pupils and staff were involved in the making of the work with local glass artist Teri Lockton who said: 'It was such a pleasure to be in the school. The staff and students were a joy to work with.

'The students showed real interest in the different techniques and materials, asked intelligent and thoughtful questions,

'I enjoyed my week in the school so much, that I stayed on for another 2 weeks, over the Easter break, and was very sorry to have to take the panels home to finish them off.'

The design of the window is based on the school shield and the school colours of blue and gold.

Paula Hayward-Nicholls, head of art at school, said: 'This has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to work with Teri to create a beautiful piece of art work that will displayed in Hartismere School for many, many years to come.

'Our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed this experience and are very proud of their contributions to the making of the window. The window really looks stunning.'
