Wymondham College Principal Melvyn Roffe will be honoured in a ceremony at Central Hall Westminster on Tuesday.
The College of Optometrists - the professional, scientific and examining body for optometry in the UK - will confer an honorary fellowship on Mr Roffe in recognition of the contribution he has made to the public's understanding of the optometric profession and through his chairmanship of the college's lay advisory panel.
As an honorary fellow, he joins a select group of distinguished academics, politicians and other individuals who have been honoured by the college over the years. The current list includes former House of Commons speaker Baroness Betty Boothroyd and former cabinet minister Lord Patrick Jenkin.
