Police have confirmed the identity of the man whose body was found in the River Waveney and his next of kin have been informed.

An investigation was launched after the discovery at a stretch of the river close to Wortham Ling, near Diss, on November 26.

Norfolk Police said the identity of who the man was had been confirmed and his family had been informed but that no further details would be released before the opening of a formal inquest.

His death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner pending a full inquest.

Wortham Ling, an area of heathland on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest that is popular with walkers and people with dogs.
