Investigation into A140 garage fire
A joint police and fire investigation was underway today after a blaze at a petrol station in Suffolk forced part of a busy road to be shut.A section of the A140 was closed from about 7pm last night when a fire began in the loft space of the Mendlesham Group Fuels garage at Brockford, near Eye.

A section of the A140 was closed from about 7pm last night when a fire began in the loft space of the Mendlesham Group Fuels garage at Brockford, near Eye.
More than 50 firefighters tackled the blaze at the car showroom beside the A-road and managed to stop the fire from spreading to the adjoining station.
Crews attended from Eye, Debenham, Stowmarket, Needham Market, Bury St Edmunds, Framlingham, Elmswell, Diss and Ipswich.

Police closed a stretch of the A140 between the A143 junction and the Brockford Road junction. No-one was hurt, but significant damage was caused to the building.
