A make-up artist has landed her first job in feature films on the set of a psychological thriller in Suffolk.
Jo Hughff, from Thorndon, will start filming Winifred Meeks, directed by the award-winning Jason Figgis, who has worked with John Hurt and Alan Rickman.
The psychological thriller is influenced by M. R. James' ghost stories, and follows writer Anna James, played by The War Zone's Lara Belmont, as she seeks a secluded property to finish her new teen crime novel.
However, having settled down in a sea captain's house, it is also not long before she becomes aware of a troubled presence within the rooms, the vengeful spirit of the former lady of Seaview House.
Bill Fellows of Downton Abbey and Broadchurch, and Sally George of Holby City, Casualty and Hollyoaks are also featured in the film.
Ms Hughff will be working with newcomer actress, Julie Abbott, who will play the ghost.
She said: 'This is my first feature film. I have done a few television pilots and theatre shows. I was living up north but I come from around here and I recently moved to Thornton.
'Filming starts very soon, and we will be filming on Halloween in a house in Dunwich - it's meant to be haunted!
'I'm looking forward to it. This sort of thing is what I like to do mostly, the scary bits.
'I'm turning an actress into someone who has starved to death and turns into a ghost. To start with it's going to be all about hollowing her face out, really making her look starved, a bit of contour around the cheek bones and so forth.'
M. R. James was an author and academic wrote ghost stories in the first few decades of the twentieth century.
His stories were often set in Suffolk, when he grew up.
The film is being produced by John West, from Saxmundham, a writer and historian.
Mr West said: 'I'm looking forward to it, it's going to be very exciting, I can't wait.
'I used to love ghost stories as a child and of course we're filming on Halloween as well.
'This is the third project I've worked on with the director, Jason. We really get on and we both loved the same things as children, the ghost stories.
'It's the journey of a lifetime.'
Filming for Winifred Meeks starts on Saturday, October 27.
