Ultra marathon runner Jackson Williams will be making a special appearance at what is claimed to be the biggest sports fun day ever to be held in the Diss area.

Heywood Sports and Racquet Club is hosting the event from 11am on Sunday, August 17, at its Walcot Road premises in the town.

The day promises a range of sports demonstrations, including Diss Town FC training on the Astroturf followed by a five-a-side match, and a special appearance by Williams, who once fought Amir Khan as a professional boxer and now dedicates his time to completing extreme challenges.

Last year, he ran across America west to east, covering 3,086 miles, and is this year running from John O'Groats to Land's End, a total of 837 miles. He will also be completing a three-hour treadmill challenge for charity MEND, which helps

tackles the problems faced by obese children.

Additional fun day attractions include squash demos from Norfolk County champions Jamie Goodrich and Ashley Briggs, along with matches from the club teams.

Diss Tennis Club will be bringing out its best members and top

county players to perform some entertaining games, and there will be sparring from Gareth Edwards and members of the Norwich Lads Boxing Club, and cycle spinning classes with the club's fitness instructor Coco de la Terre.

Other attractions include a bucking bronco, giant inflatable slide, bungee trampoline, rock climb, children's roundabout, hog roast and beer tent.
