Town centre residents are being warned to expect some disruption next month when resurfacing and bollard replacement works begin in Mere Street, Diss.
The 47,000 scheme will see the mainly pedestrianised part of the town's high street closed to traffic on Sunday March 1 and for two days the following week.
Mere Street will be shut from the Market Place to Chapel Street on March 1 and traffic will be diverted via Church Street and Chapel Street.
During the resurfacing work on March 8 and 9, the diversion route will be extended via Frenze Road, Skelton Road and Victoria Road and Chapel Street will operate under a temporary two way traffic control order.
A Norfolk County Council spokesman said that there would be no onsite works and traffic would operate as normal between March 2 and 7 to minimise disruption.
The works will extend from the junction with Chapel Street to a point approx 50 metres north of the junction with A1066 Victoria Road.
