A unique statue has been stolen from a restaurant which has been closed for almost a year.

The large wooden ornament featuring two mermaids was previously displayed in pride of place at the Mermaid Balti House on Norwich Road in Hedenham before it closed in March last year.

The burglary took place on Sunday January 7 and it appears all that was taken was the statue.

Police ask that anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the time or who has any information regarding the statue to please call 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
