A woman who lost her son to suicide has been raising money for an outdoor therapy group that supports young people with mental health issues.
Lou Hines' son Leon was 22 years old when he took his own life and his mother says that although he tried to get help there was nothing out there.
Since her son's death in 2011 the mother and fundraiser from Roydon near Diss has thrown herself into collecting money for charity to help keep her busy and do something positive.
Over the years she has managed to raise thousands of pounds for charities including Nelson's Journey, a local school and two causes that are teenager and children focused.
And this year monies raised from the annual Bressingham Band Night set up by Mrs Hines will go to supporting a local boy and Nature and Nurture outdoor therapy group held at Wortham Ling – a cause close to her heart.
The band night which will be held at Bressingham Steam Museum on Saturday, October 7, has become so popular over the years that the fundraiser says she no longer goes looking for bands for the event – they come looking for her.
She along with Geoff Dixon who organises the annual WoW Festival in Diss has already raised £3,500 to support Nature and Nurture with a Beer, Bikes and Bands event.
Mrs Hines said: 'My son has gone through difficulties since the death of his brother as well as the normal teenage difficulties.
'The funding is just not out there to help these children through these times.
'A lot of people have to get out there and do something themselves. We need to invest in our young people because they are our future.'
'A lot of boys and young men keep things in, so an outdoor therapy is good for them.
'It involves activities and woods and being around a camp fire – not sitting around a table talking.
'It is a more comfortable kind of therapy with no pressure.'
Tickets for Bressingham Band Night are £10 in advance and £15 on the door. They are available from Lou Hines and the Burston Crown, The Cock Inn in Diss and The Nutshell in Bury St Edmunds.
