Needham murder victim named

A woman who was stabbed to death in a Waveney Valley village was today named as 54-year-old Carol Weatherley.

Detectives from the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Police Major Investigation Team are continuing their investigations into the killing of the woman in Needham, near Harleston, on Monday night .

Detectives from the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Police Major Investigation Team are continuing their investigations into the killing of the woman in Needham, near Harleston, on Monday night .

A murder enquiry was launched after officers discovered the body of a woman at an address on the corner of High Road and Brook Lane at around 6.15pm. She had suffered a stab wound to the neck.

A 32-year-old man, believed to be the victim's son, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was later detained under the Mental Health Act.

Police named Mrs Weatherley this evening following a post mortem examination and formal identification by her family.

The investigation is ongoing. However, police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
