A new trader, who used to work on her husband’s fruit and veg market stall, has backed the Mercury’s Shop Local scheme – two weeks after opening a shop in Diss.

Natalie Jones, of Wattisfield, opened Harriet’s Home and Garden at the former Footloose store in Market Hill on October 18.

And the mother-of-two has become the latest to join a growing list of businesses to take part in the Shop Local for Christmas initiative.

Mrs Jones, who named the shop after her two-year-old daughter Harriet and also has a five-year-old son called Harry, will be assisted by her husband Carl, who sells fruit and veg at markets in Framlingham and Southwold.

“I wanted to do something on my own and I knew there was not a shop like this in Diss that sells this stuff at reasonable prices and I thought it would be a good thing to open up this part of town.”

“We have had a lot of passing trade and word is getting about and hopefully it will get busier towards Christmas,” she said.
