The former workshop of a Diss builder who specialised in the maintenance of listed buildings could be turned into three new houses.

Plans have been submitted to South Norfolk Council to convert the former workshop of John Taylor into three new homes with small gardens and parking places accessed from the existing site entrance on Shelfanger Road.

Mr Taylor, who worked on period properties and churches, including the oak structure on top of St Mary's Church in Diss, had been based in the former builder's yard since 1986 but retired earlier this year.

The plans include the demolition of a separate lean-to building and corrugated sheet roof as well as alternations to the outside of the building as part of its conversion into new homes.

The building is in Diss Conservation Area and the workshop and stores are thought to have originally been stables to the old brewery.
