Officers tweeted they had 'never been so grateful' to see the ambulance service after they were almost forced to deliver twins last night.
A man flagged down a police car on Victoria Road in Diss at around 1am this morning while he was taking his partner to hospital.
She was in labour with twins and he was concerned they would not get to the maternity ward in time.
An ambulance was called at 2.43am and arrivied within four minutes to take the expectant mother to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Police tweeted this morning: 'Never been so grateful to see @EastEnglandAmb come to our aid #itstwins #joblikenoother'.
