Vodafone customers left without signal for 11 days

Residents have been left frustrated and outraged after more than eleven days without mobile phone signal.
Vodafone users in Garboldisham and the surrounding area have been unable to use their phones since the end of last month and are no closer to finding out when the service will be reconnected.
District councillor Marion Champman-Allen, who lives in the village and has been a customer of the provider since 1994, has been tweeting the company for more than a week trying to get answers.
She said: “It’s appalling. The majority of people are on Vodafone because it is the only one we can get service with around here.
“We haven’t had a sight of an engineer and the only response we are getting is that they are working on it.
“I accept thesee things happen, but the snow has been gone for a while now and traffic is flowing fine for a week.
“We are in a very rural area but the mast is at Mervyn Lambert Plant Hire so it isn’t as if it is difficult to get to.”
A coverage map on Vodafone’s website shows there is “a problem with the mobile network” in the area around Garboldisham, the Lophams, Quidenham and East Harling.
The leader of Breckland Council William Nunn, who lives in North Lopham, tweeted this morning: “This is appalling, a rural community has been left cut off by you and you havean’t even had the courtesy to keep people informed. Our businesses are suffering daily.”
This isn’t the first time residents in South Norfolk have been left without mobile phone service from the telecommunications giant.
Vodafone signal in the area was cut off for a week after a mast fault in November.
Mrs Chapman-Allen said: “There was a fatal accident on the A1066 earlier this week and people couldn’t use their phones to let others know what had happened.
“Thankfully the emergency services were able to be contacted.
“As a councillor I’ve been completely ineffective as Vodafone is the only signal that works here - we are stuck without them.”
Vodafone have been contacted for a comment but have yet to respond.
